Love in Pandemic (#1 2020 03 21 Wilson Loo)
As the new coronavirus draws closer and closer, Ontario finally announced an emergency state a few days ago. Margaret and I went to a mainstream supermarket, hoping to replenish our grocery items. We found that the shelves which were meant for milk, eggs, meat, toilet tissues and hand soaps were all empty. As far as I remember, this is the first time that I have had such an experience. In the midst of our dismay, we suddenly realize how blessed we are. We have never come face to face with a lack of “our daily bread.” God has been providing us with our daily bread, even during such difficult times. And because we are so used to the provision in an affluent society, we have very much taken our daily necessities for granted.
As the pandemic looms large, it does provide us with a good opportunity to pause, count our blessings and reflect- to reflect on our blessings, our relationship with God and people, and our priorities of life.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, amidst our helplessness, irritability and fear, let us pray for ourselves and pray for others. And through our faith and hope, let us commit ourselves to our Father in heaven, and ask him for His heavenly peace. Let us pray that His will be done. Let us share His love with those who need it most at this time and place.
