  3. Christmas Outreach 2021

    • St Hilary’s Anglican Church Food Bank is organizing their annual Christmas outreach. St Elizabeth’s Anglican Church with the leadership of the Corporate Team and Outreach committee have decided to support and collaborate with them in their initiative. There are 3 ways we will participate starting Nov 7, 2021:

      • 1) Ongoing donations of canned milk, instant coffee, tea (in bags), spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, canned corn and macaroni and cheese (i.e. Kraft Dinner)

      • 2) For Christmas, to provide some special items such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, Christmas cookies, Christmas candies, socks for children and adults, also donations of $25 gift cards for Walmart - this will allow the parents to choose Christmas gifts for their children. St E’s will also add $10 McDonalds’ gift cards for each child.

      • 3) For 5 members of St E’s to help at St Hilary’s to pack the Christmas hampers and on another day to hand them out to their clients. St Hilary’s would be happy to welcome helpers from St E’s to join them on both days (dates to be arranged). Please let Rev. Maria know if you are interested to do this.

    • Beginning Nov 7, parishioners can begin to bring in the abovementioned items and drop them off in the box provided. Gifts cards and cash gifts should only be handed to the Corporate Team (Fenella, Paul, Chivas and Rev. Maria) and the Outreach Committee (Andy & Anna, Annie). For parishioners who are unable to come to church, members of the Outreach Committee can pick up your contributions. The last day for pick-up is Friday, Dec 10 and the last day for drop off at church is Sunday, Dec 12. You may also bring your contributions to the churchwide Christmas Party/Event on Saturday Dec 11, 2021.

    • Each time you go shopping, do remember to pick up some of the items and help make someone’s Christmas a little brighter and happier this year! God bless your intention to help families in need!

    • Many people think the church has become a social club with little impact on the world. That is not God’s plan for the church. “We Are the Church . . . Let’s Act Like It” takes readers through the book of Acts, looking at what it means to be the church of Jesus Christ, the world-changing church that Jesus intended. Problems in the church are nothing new. The book of Acts is full of them. In We Are the Church... Linda Tower Pevey offers the church practical and biblical ways to live out its mandate to be a church that positively impacts its community and the world. “We Are the Church... Let’s Act Like It” is a 7-week study that helps readers see the biblical vision for the church and a vision for what the church can be today. In it, Pevey offers encouragement that the church can truly be a transformative presence in the world, just as the early church was in the book of Acts.

    • Those not in any Fellowship group can meet with Rev. Maria to do this study together (TBA). Please email Rev. Maria for the materials at priest@stechurch.com

  6. New Vaccination Policy for Clergy, St. E Staff and Volunteers

Bishop Andrew Asbil, in his pastoral letter on Tues Sep 14, reminds us that as followers of Jesus we are called to love our neighbours.

"There is one crucial way we can love our neighbours, and that is to vaccinate ourselves against COVID-19. For the good of our whole community, we can choose to protect those who can’t be vaccinated and those for whom this virus poses the greatest risk."

He announced in his letter to all parishes in our Diocese a new mandatory vaccination policy that requires clergy, diocesan employees and volunteers, and parish employees and volunteers to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. The full policy (see attached) and other related resources are now available on the diocesan website.

The bishops and diocesan leadership have decided not to require proof of vaccination to attend worship in an Anglican church in this Diocese.

The churchwardens will begin confirming proof of vaccination from our parish staff and volunteers who have direct in-person contact in the church building or at other locations as part of their church ministry. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the churchwardens by phone or email vaccination@stechurch.com
