I was chatting with a friend on Facebook messenger a few days ago. When I told her that my daughter is finally moving out, she made a comment about the “Boomerang generation!”. I looked up the term on google. The Boomerang Generation refers to adult children moving back to live with their parents. There are many reasons for them to do so. They might be looking for a job; they might just need a place to stay temporarily or they might have to take care of aging parents. In Asian culture, adult children living with their parents is common. It is a blessing to have one’s children living under the same roof. My door is always open to my children and many other Chinese parents might agree with me.
God wants us to go back to him and he welcomes us with open arms. Among people I know, there are those who don’t believe in God, those who decided to part their ways with God and those who respect God but refuse to have a relationship with Him. I sincerely pray that my friends will one day turn to God. We are all God’s children, God’s “ Boomerang Kids”. Amen.
