I am sharing two news stories from the internet today. In fact, for both stories, it was the photo accompanying each text, which first captured my attention. I have therefore attached two drawings based on the original photos to facilitate the appreciation of the stories. And I thank my two grandsons for helping with the drawings.
The first story is titled “A Newcastle woman went to special heights to visit to her grandma in Kitchener amid the pandemic”.
A young lady from Newcastle wanted to visit her grandmother, who was hospitalized after suffering a stroke. Visitors however were banned because of the spread of Covid-19. In a creative attempt to see her grandma, she climbed onto her husband's shoulders outside the hospital so that she could see her through the glass window. She says being able to see her grandma smile made her week.
The second story is about an elderly couple becoming fashion models.
Mr. M and his wife, who are both over eighty years old, have been operating a laundry shop in Taiwan and living quietly for more than 69 years. Due to the pandemic, their grandson returned to Taiwan to live with them. This brought about a big change to their lives.
The young man found that his grandparents were always dozing off in the shop. He succeeded in convincing them to have fun by modelling the unclaimed and abandoned clothes in the laundry and posting the pictures on Instagram. To their surprise, the posts became a great hit and the account is being followed by over thirty thousand people all over the world. When Mr. M and his wife saw themselves on the news, being interviewed, and congratulated by many relatives and friends, they became cheerful, active and healthier. The grandson is happy for the pleasant changes he has brought about to his grandparents.
When I first looked at the two photos accompanying the two news stories, I found them incredible. After I read the stories, I was impressed by the creativity of the young lady and the young man. But, above all, I was very much touched by the love bonding of the two generations.
