Frank and the Christmas Miracle (Part 1 of 2)
Terence Kim
Frank raced to the dining table. Dinner was his favourite time of day. He sat down at the table with his brother, Eddie. They started praying. However, Frank was praying for a different reason that night. He wanted a friend. After his parents got divorced, he moved to New York with his mother, and got separated from all his friends. He wondered if God would ever hear his prayer.
That night, Frank had a nightmare and saw bullies everywhere. He opened his eyes, looked at the calendar, and sighed. He was on Christmas holiday and it was not too far until Christmas. He wondered what he would get his family for Christmas. "A toy car for Eddie," thought Frank. Eddie loved toy cars. He then thought of a present for his mom. "A new frying pan for Mom," thought Frank. He saw that his mom's pan was breaking. "And a new screwdriver for Dad." His step-dad needed a new screwdriver, as the old one was rusty. So, he left the house and went to a cheap superstore.
Inside, there were lots of things. Frank went up to the manager and asked for a job. The manager, whose name is Jake, let Frank clean the floor. Frank finished quickly and Jake paid him.
The day after, Frank worked at the store again. Jake and Frank greeted each other, but this time Jake had a new young employee. Jake introduced this young boy as Ted, who apparently had a lot in common with Frank. Frank and Ted got straight to work stocking shelves. They introduced themselves to each other while they were doing it. Ted said he was born in Ohio and moved to New York two months ago. Frank said that he used to live in Toronto and moved to New York after his parents had divorced. He did not have any friends anymore. Ted felt bad and wanted to help Frank.
