Toronto Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit

My son bought tickets for the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit early for my birthday. My birthday is in August, but all the tickets for August are sold out. The exhibition started at 7:00 pm, we left home at 6:30 pm, Lakeshore closed during the weekend, and QEW was very busy. It is difficult to find a parking space Downtown.

Fortunately, we found a nearby parking space at a price of $30.00. Each ticket is $39.99 plus tax, and the parking fee is almost the ticket fee. You can choose a Walk-in or Drive-in to watch the show. The cost of Drive-in is $94.99 plus tax, actually it includes parking fees. We felt that viewing in the car lacked the surrounding visual and sound effects, so we chose Walk-in. The exhibition was restructured from the original Toronto Star Printing House at No 1 Yonge Street. This exhibition was visited by more than 2 million tourists in Paris. The exhibition showcases Van Gogh's most representative works, using digital technology to give the master's work a new look.

Van Gogh is Dutch. He only lived to be 37 years old. He started painting at the age of 27. In just ten years, he painted 2,100 paintings includes 680 oil paintings, and finally committed suicide due to insanity. Speaking of his life experience is related to religion. He was born in a Catholic family, his grandfather is a priest, his father is also a clergyman, and his uncles are art dealers. He used to work in his uncle’s company, and he was an assistant to the pastor, study theology, translated the Bible, and did missionary work. While preaching to the miners, he devoted himself to giving up his house to the homeless, living in a slum, covered in soot. His extreme religious sentiment and compassionate character caused the religious circles to feel that he was not suitable to be a missionary. His extreme and broken love made him schizophrenic. He can't manage his daily life and has been living in poverty. Eventually, he started painting with the encouragement of his younger brother, who has been supporting him financially.

Van Gogh is a post-impressionist painter. His later works are very colorful and very special. Probably because of his mental problems, he often has hallucinations and colors that are different from ordinary people's vision and perception. As the saying goes, geniuses and lunatics are only a fine line. Many famous musicians and artists are not normal in the eyes of ordinary people, and their enthusiasm for unique fields makes them outstanding. In a TV interview, a psychologist jock to a famous singer: You should not succeed because you are too normal.

Van Gogh was a genius but he only sold one painting when he was alive, and he was impoverished. The price of his paintings rose after his death. Perhaps because of his early death and tragic life, his paintings became the most expensive paintings in the world. One painting sold for 100 million US dollars. It is not easy to see his original painting. This kind of digital art exhibition is a new attempt to popularize famous artworks, as if famous opera singers and pop singers are performing on the same stage. It also attracts people from different eras and backgrounds, to concerned about art, take an introductory class of art.

The following is a video of the exhibition:

God has his arrangements for everything. Human beings live ignorantly, try to do different things, learn different things, and find jobs that are suitable for us. In fact, God has his plan for everybody. Stumble and fall is the test God gives us. Only through difficulty and exercise, you will be strong and grow. Under God’s guide by finding what you love it can make you succeed. As Romans 12:3-8 teaches us:

12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

12:4

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

12:5

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

12:6

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

12:7

Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching;

12:8

Or he that exhorted, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruled, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Let each of us use our special gift and do our best, united into God to fulfill his mission.
