October 23rd, 2022 20th Sunday after Pentecost

  1. Property Management Notice

    • Thanks to all who volunteered to help with the gardening on Saturday

  2. Special Celebration

    • What do these three festivals have in common: Halloween, All Saints’ Day & All Souls’ Day? They happen three days in a row!

    • We seldom observe All Souls’ – but in our Chinese customs, we tend the graves of our ancestors twice a year – in the spring and in the autumn – to pay our respect.

    • What would we do if we observe All Souls’ Day at church? One way to remember our departed loved ones is to say prayers in church for them, and/or light a candle to remember them. It is about inter-connection – they are still spiritually connected to us, even though they are no longer physically present. We also say we believe in the Communion of the Saints – what does it really mean?

    • Come find out on November 6, being the first Sunday of the month, we will have our bilingual, joint service at 11:00 am. Invite your family members and friends who have lost someone (it does not matter whether it is recently or further back) at the end of the sermon, light a candle to remember their loved ones. Or, as an alternative, people can write the names on a prepared card: “Today, we remember…” and offer them in a basket. It may be a very meaningful way to experience the feast of All Souls in church. One suggestion we heard is that we can specifically remember Fr. Dennis Dolloff on that Sunday.
