  6. Advent Study with Rev. Maria Ling on Zoom

    • “Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study” by Walter Brueggemann

    • In Isaiah 9:6, a divine utterance is given to us using four royal titles--Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Names for the Messiah ponders each title and how the people understood it then, how Jesus did or did not fulfill the title, and how Christians interpret Jesus as representative of that title.

    • Christians have claimed from the beginning that Jesus was the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. In this study, best-selling author Walter Brueggemann tackles the questions: "What were these expectations?" and "Did Jesus fulfill them?"

    • Date: Mondays Nov 29, Dec 6, 13, 20

    • Time: 8pm

    • On Zoom

    • Meeting ID: 830 0185 3125 Passcode: 275638

    • There is a reading for each week and discussion questions following that. There is no need to purchase the book unless participants want to.

  7. Christmas Outreach 2021

    • St Hilary’s Anglican Church Food Bank is organizing their annual Christmas outreach. St Elizabeth’s Anglican Church with the leadership of the Corporate Team and Outreach committee have decided to support and collaborate with them in their initiative. There are 3 ways we will participate starting Nov 7, 2021:

      • 1) Ongoing donations of canned milk, instant coffee, tea (in bags), spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, canned corn and macaroni and cheese (i.e. Kraft Dinner)

      • 2) For Christmas, to provide some special items such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, Christmas cookies, Christmas candies, socks for children and adults, also donations of $25 gift cards for Walmart - this will allow the parents to choose Christmas gifts for their children. St E’s will also add $10 McDonalds’ gift cards for each child.

      • 3) For 5 members of St E’s to help at St Hilary’s to pack the Christmas hampers and on another day to hand them out to their clients. St Hilary’s would be happy to welcome helpers from St E’s to join them on both days (Packing: Dec 16 & 20 10am-12noon, Distributing: Dec 23 10am-12noon). Please let Rev. Maria know if you are interested to do this.

    • Beginning Nov 7, parishioners can begin to bring in the abovementioned items and drop them off in the box provided. Gifts cards and cash gifts should only be handed to the Corporate Team (Fenella, Paul, Chivas and Rev. Maria) and the Outreach Committee (Andy & Anna, Annie). For parishioners who are unable to come to church, members of the Outreach Committee can pick up your contributions. The last day for pick-up is Friday, Dec 10 and the last day for drop off at church is Sunday, Dec 12. You may also bring your contributions to the churchwide Christmas Party/Event on Saturday Dec 11, 2021.

    • Each time you go shopping, do remember to pick up some of the items and help make someone’s Christmas a little brighter and happier this year! God bless your intention to help families in need!

  8. Infirmed Prayer Requests

    • Please pray for Mrs. Tsang’s recovery and pray for her family as well. Thank you.
