  1. This Sunday May 30 Trinity Sunday 11am Joint English & Cantonese Online Morning Prayer Service

    • We will have a joint service for Trinity Sunday at 11am on Sunday, May 30. Our preacher for that day will be Wilson Loo who will preach in Cantonese and give a summary in English.

    • As there will not be Mandarin service, please join the joint service instead

    • There will not be English Children’s Online Sunday School

  2. 2019 & 2020 Financial Statements Re-issued for Adjustments

    • Error in the balance of the remaining loan due to be paid back to Diocese

      • Repayment to Diocese at end of 2019 was double counted in beginning of 2020

      • Balance at end of 2020 should be $450,000 not $440,000

      • Auditor has re-issued the statements and they are being reviewed by finance team. It will be shared to parishioners in coming weeks

      • Revised statements to be re-approved in next vestry Feb 2022

    • Year-end balance of the rectory fund from statement provided to us by the Diocese was overstated in 2020 by about $7000

  5. Chinese Anglican Churches of Toronto: Seminar for Hong Kongers Moving to Canada (PDF Click Here)

    • The 4 Cantonese Parishes are organising a seminar for those in HK thinking of moving to Canada in particular to the GTA.

    • This Zoom event will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 8-9:30pm (HK time).

    • If you have family and friends who are thinking of immigrating to Toronto, please share this poster with them.

  6. Thanksgiving

    • Lisa Cheng is recovering well since being discharged from hospital.

    • Lee (Enoch's Mother) is recovered well from the surgery. We hereby give thanks.

    • Carol Shih who will be trained as a seminary student for the next two years. Give thanks that she passed the seminary interview for the Diocese of Toronto.

  7. Companionship Project

    • Our intern, Carol Shih, will launch a Companionship project in June till August for the first phase.

    • Targets: As the project requires significant commitment and will lead to in-depth sharing, it is for parishioners over 22 years old and who are willing to seek God’s words with someone together. One can pair with another of the same gender or their partner. You can also ask the church to pair up someone for you.

    • Characteristics: flexibility (date, time, place, formality, material and plan), constancy (weekly), commitment (rules, time and readings) and the centre on God’s words.

  8. Theological Education Fund

    • The Theological Education Fund at St. Elizabeth’s is a special restricted fund established in 2007 to promote theological education, especially among parish members of St. Elizabeth’s Anglican.

    • This year the fund committee has met and approved to grant Carol Shih funding of $1255 to support her Master of Divinity studies at Wycliffe College.

    • Note: Prior approval from recipient was sought and received before disclosure of name to public

    • For 2021, the vestry approved the new account structure to have all 3 ministries as separate accounts along with an operating account for general shared purposes. Please note that as of April 2021 any offerings received that do not specify which ministry or special restricted fund (i.e. English Ministry - Regular, Cantonese Ministry - Regular, Mandarin Ministry - Regular, Special, etc.) the offering is directed to, it will be classified automatically for the general operating use in our Operating account.

    • If offering through our online form (stechurch.com/donate), please designate by selecting from the “Fund” dropdown box.

    • If offering through cheque, please make note in the memo section of the cheque.

    • If offering through cash, please indicate by using the appropriate envelope assigned with your donation envelope number, or mark on the envelope.

  10. IDMC 2021 Conference

    • Last year, St. Christopher’s had 7 members attended the International Disciple Making Churches (IDMC) conference and found it very helpful. This year the conference will be held on Fri. June 4 at 8 pm and Sat. June 5, 3 pm – 10 pm. The topic is “Getting Into The Word” by Rev. Edmund Chan. A very dynamic speaker will present in English and Cantonese. $60/person.
